You do in the office
Some people have a hard time taking credit for something that they do in the office, but you should think about all the work that you had to put into the job. You shouldn't allow someone else to get the praise and the glory for all and everything that you did to make the work a success. You will want to stand up for yourself and show others that you are just as valuable to the company as anyone else and you do that by taking credit for something that you did in the office.
First, you will want to tell the boss when they ask who did the work the truth. Tell them that it was you or your team. Tell them the truth because there is always standing around waiting for the opportunity to take the credit. You will find that there are a lot of things that you can do to make yourself seem positive, but not greedy too. You don't want to come over and say well I did that and so on. You will want to ask the boss some questions on what they liked about the work and then tell them specifically what you were going for or your motivation. You don't just want to say that you did it and walk away. Take the time to get the praise. Although there are some people who have a hard time to deal with taking credit, you will find that there are tons of other people who are just waiting to take your glory away. You don't want to allow anyone take your glory away.
However there are times when you are not getting praised, but you are getting questioned about who screwed up. You will want to take the credit because you don't want to have them find out later. When it comes to getting the credit for negative things you will find that the boss would rather you confess and stand your ground then if you allow someone else to take the immediate blame. If they find out that it was really you, you'll definitely loss your job and all the respect that they once had for you. Honesty is always the best policy. You will want to make sure that you do everything that you can for the company, but when you make a mishap, tell them the truth. If you lose your job, you lose your job, but you'll lose it if you hide behind the blame of someone else and they find out. Either way you might lose, but at least you will be able to go out with some truth and dignity.
It is very important for you to take the credit for the things that you do regardless of if they are good or bad. You will find that it is best for you ethically. If you are willing to take the credit for something good, you should accept the blame for the bad things. You shouldn't coward behind your personality when it comes to credit. If you are a quiet person, you will want to make sure that you take the credit for all the things that you do, because you deserve it and you worked hard for the praise. You will notice that credit for all the good things that you do, might get you a promotion or pay raise. You don't want allow someone else to get away with things. You will want to make sure that if you put the effort in doing something that you take the time to get the benefits from all your hard work.
